Peace and tranquillity by the Kostonjoki River
Enjoy a comfortable stay at Sudentörmä Wilderness Lodge, located on the banks of the fish-rich Kostonjoki River. Surrounded by nature, the lodge is a true haven for those seeking peace and quiet. It is an ideal destination for families as well as guests interested in fishing or hunting. From spring to autumn, there is plenty to see and do for the whole family.
The use of a rowing boat is included in the rental price (life jackets for three people are provided).
Hiking, cycling and day trips
The lodge offers easy access to Taivalkoski’s beautiful hiking and mountain biking trails. Great destinations for outdoor adventures include Syöte National Park, Kylmäluoma, Pyhitystunturi, Soiperoinen and the rocky Pahkakuru canyon. Hossa, Ruka and Posio are also within easy reach for day trips.
The extensive state-owned wilderness areas of northern Taivalkoski are easily accessible for hunters. Taivalkoski town centre is approximately 10 km away, where you will find the excellent outdoor recreation areas of Taivalvaara, with hiking trails, disc golf courses and other services.
Canoeing and wilderness adventures
The lodge is also located along the Kostonjoki whitewater canoeing route, with approximately 5 km of rapids to explore right near the cabin!
Guests have access to two saunas (indoor and outdoor), a gas grill, a campfire site, a traditional grill hut and an eco-friendly outdoor toilet.
A well-equipped wilderness lodge
The lodge has a well-equipped kitchen with a coffee maker, kettle, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, electric stove and oven. The living area also features a heat-retaining fireplace and a wood-burning stove, which can also be used for cooking.
Drinking and household water comes from the lodge’s own well. An air-source heat pump provides additional heating or cooling when needed.
Accommodation
The lodge accommodates five adults. If required, the sofa bed provides two additional sleeping places.
A hot tub is also available by separate agreement (please note that it is not included in the rental price).
The wilderness lodge is available for rent from spring until late autumn!

We can arrange powerful electric fatbikes to be delivered directly to the lodge. Explore the magnificent landscapes of Taivalkoski and make even more of your stay! Feel free to ask us about the bikes and the area’s fantastic cycling routes.
