Taivalkoski is where you want to go. It’s so close you can get there easily: no matter how you travel.

Arrival

• The nearest airports to Taivalkoski are located in Kuusamo and Oulu – the drive to Kuusamo Airport takes about an hour, while Oulu Airport can be reached in less than two hours.
  
  Finnair operates flights from Helsinki to Kuusamo year-round. The flight takes just over an hour, and during the winter season, there are multiple daily flights available.
  
  In winter, Kuusamo is also accessible via direct flights from Europe. Lufthansa flies from Frankfurt on Saturdays, Eurowings from Düsseldorf on Sundays, and Edelweiss offers a weekly connection from Zurich.

• There is a bus service on weekdays and weekends from Oulu or Kuusamo to Taivalkoski. Matkahuolto, bus time table
• Taivalkoski is particularly popular among those who drive, and it’s easy to get here via road no. 20 from Oulu or Kuusamo.  If you’re coming up from the south, along highway no. 5 (E63), the scenic lake drive no. 8400 will lead you straight to Taivalkoski.   There is also a scenic drive further north, which takes you to Posio.
