Villa Salme – A Well-Equipped Log Cabin by Lake Jokijärvi
Villa Salme is a well-equipped 42 m² log cabin located in the scenic cultural landscape of Jokijärvi in Taivalkoski, an area closely connected with renowned Finnish author Kalle Päätalo.
The cabin accommodates four guests. During the summer, an additional attic room provides sleeping space for two more guests.
Cabin and Amenities
The cabin features a combined living room and kitchen with a sofa bed, one bedroom, indoor toilet, shower, sauna with an electric heater, and a heat-retaining fireplace.

Use of an Indian canoe, rowing boat and lakeside grill hut, as well as firewood, is included in the rental price. A single kayak, two mountain bikes and two SUP boards are also available for rent.
Private Beach and Water Activities
The south-facing shore is sandy and shallow, making it ideal for swimming. The nearest neighbour, the owner, lives approximately 50 metres away.
The beautiful landscape of Lake Jokijärvi invites you to explore by water. From the cabin’s shoreline, you can easily set off on a paddling or rowing trip along the Iijoki River towards Taivalkoski, explore the Murhijoki or Tyräjoki rivers, or continue towards Tyräjärvi and even Lake Koviojärvi.
Nature and Kalle Päätalo’s Landscapes
Excellent berry-picking and mushroom-foraging areas are right at your doorstep.
Kallioniemi, the childhood home and museum of renowned Finnish author Kalle Päätalo, is located on the southern shore of Jokijärvi, approximately 3 km from the cabin by boat.
Fishing and Hunting
Villa Salme is also an excellent base for anglers and hunters. Great fishing opportunities can be found in the waters managed by the Jokijärvi fishing cooperative and along the Iijoki rapids.
Fishing permits for the Jokijärvi area can be purchased directly from the cabin owner.
